Structure Fire at 99 Freeman St

At Approximately 2:24pm on May 13th, 2022, York Beach Fire Department and York Village Fire Department were dispatched to the area of 99 Freeman Street for a report of a possible structure fire. The first arriving fire unit on the scene (Car 1) reported smoke showing from a large 3 story residential structure and requested a working fire assignment. A second alarm was requested followed by a third alarm bringing in multiple mutual aid departments from surrounding communities to fight the fire. Moderate wind conditions combined with a structure built in the late 1800’s contributed to rapid fire spread conditions. The fire was brought under control by 8:00pm. Fire companies remained on the scene for several more hours performing overhaul and extinguishing hot spots.
