Another part of our job at York Beach Fire Department is search and rescue. Part of our response district is Mount Agamenticus. This and other wooded areas are primarily where we have the bulk of our search and rescue calls. There are many hiking and mountain biking trails that are in these areas, and they can often create opportunities for people to become lost or injured. Whether it be an injury or someone who is lost, often it entails a difficult operation. The ATV we have is utilized for search and rescue. It can be towed by Rescue 3 and get to areas of the woods where we can’t normally get vehicles.
