The York Beach Fire Department responds to Motor Vehicle crashes. Some of these crashes can create situations where drivers or passengers can become entrapped in the vehicle. When this happens, it is critical that patients be extricated in a timely manner to prevent prolonging definitive care. York Beach Fire Department is equipped with a set of Hydraulic Spreaders (Jaws of life), a set of Hydraulic Cutters, and a Hydraulic Ram. These tools are designed to cut, spread, or ram vehicle components in order to extricate patients.
